CBD, FINALLY coming out of the Shadows.
Hemp has been known as a useful plant for centuries. The seeds and flowers are used in health foods, organic body care products, and other nutraceuticals. The stalks can be made into cloths, carpet, boards, insulation, paper, rope and biofuels among other items.
In addition, hemp leaves, flowers and stalks can be extracted for its oil, which among other things, provides the Cannabinoid CBD. What it does not provide is the psychoactive component THC.
However, because of the way the Federal laws have been formulated, CBD in this country has for a long time been associated with THC, and has been in a murky region legally. Compounding this confusion, State laws often take a different view of both CBD and THC.
On the business side, due to this legal limbo CBD has found itself in, CBD businesses are considered high risk, up there with guns and opioid providers. This can make it hard to open a bank account, get loans and credit card options for your business. All of this inconvenience gets trickled down to the purchaser, either as high fees or slower transactions. Also, the public perception is a bit myopic, for example we’ve been kicked off of Facebook a few times for mentioning CBD.
Well no longer!
The 2014 Farm Bill defined Hemp as: “Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis”.
Where the 2014 Farm Bill only allowed use of Hemp for Industrial Research, the new 2018 Bill opens the use of HEMP for anything, including its extracts containing CBD. At this writing, the bill is about to be signed into law.
This will make the business of CBD easier and hopefully improve the public’s perception even further.
We also realize this will present its challenges to a small company like ours since competition with large companies is going to intensify. We embrace this and will keep on offering our artisanal and great products.
Ultimately we do this not because we have to, but because we believe in our products and love to provide them to you.
We hope you’ll try it or any other one of our products. We’ll keep on working and adding to our products so that you have choices regarding CBD supplements. We’re here to hEmpower you!
